Topic: "How My Optimism Helps Me Overcome Obstables"
Eligibility: Students under the age of 19 as of December 31, 2011 and have not graduated from high school or its equivalent. Contest is opened to all students: public, private, parochial, and home schooled.
Deadline: Please contact your local sponsoring club.
Club Contests: Recognition at the club level are medals for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place, Boys and Girls, purchased through Promotions Corall. Clubs are now allowed, in their discretion, to give monetary awards of up to $500 to their contest winners in addition to the official medallions. Contest must be completed on or before March 24, 2012. Clubs should notify the Lt. Governor immediately of the names of their winners.
Zone Contests: Recognition at the Zone level is with Certificates ONLY, which will be provided to the Lt. Governors by the District Committee. Winners at the Zone level will be recognized at the Regional contests. Contest must be completed on or before April 14, 2012.
Regional Contests: All regional participants will be given a plaque, provided by the District Committee, recognizing that they were the winners at the Zone level. Winners at the Regional level will be recognized at the District contest. Contest must be completed on or before May 5, 2012. The names of all regional winners must be submitted to the District Chair by May 10, 2012.
District Finals: Will be held at the 3rd Quarter District Conference on May 19, 2012 at the Ramada Hotel and Conference Center in Columbus, Ohio. There will be two scharlarships awarded to the District winners (one male, one female). All District participants will receive a plaque, provided by the District Committee, recognizing that they were the winners at the Regional level.
